Does acupuncture hurt?

Clients generally report that acupuncture doesn’t really hurt, they may feel sureness, numbness and distending sensations at places where needles are inserted. Theses sensation would be stronger during manipulation. Talk to your practitioner in regards to these sensations, you don’t have to endure if it is too overwhelming.

What to expect after the acupuncture treatment?

  • It is normal to continue feeling the needling sensation even after the needles are removed.
  • There may be some bleeding or bruising after the needles are removed. Bruising will subside after a few days.
  • The pain may get worse before it gets better. Allow a day or two to let your body resettle, if you still have any concerns, let your practitioner know.

Does cupping hurt? How long do cupping marks last?

Cupping is generally not painful; you will feel the suction on your skin. The marks left by cupping reflect internal conditions—darker marks may take longer to fade. Typically, these marks will subside within 1 to 2 weeks.
